Delivery of electrical distribution boards to the Christmas market
Challenge
The selection of equipment was preceded by an analysis of work scenarios typical for mass outdoor events, where variable power demand and a large number of receivers pose a significant strain on installations. The switchboards used provided full selectivity of protection, enabling potential disturbances to be localised and eliminated without affecting other circuits. Concurrently, customer and technical staff safety was a priority, hence the system was designed to minimise the risk of overloads, short circuits, and uncontrolled power outages. APPLIED SOLUTION
As part of the implementation, three electrical distribution boards were designed and manufactured, which were installed in cabinets recessed into the EK880 manhole. This type of location is associated with increased technical and environmental requirements, hence it was crucial to ensure a high level of protection against moisture and variable weather conditions.
A key design assumption was also the full reliability of the installation during continuous operation and ensuring safe and convenient service access. The entire system was made in accordance with applicable standards and good engineering practice, which translated into stable operation and safe use even in demanding operating conditions.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The construction of the distribution boards used proven components from renowned manufacturers, which are widely used in professional electrical installations. The equipment used included, among others, overcurrent and residual current circuit breakers from the brand HAGER about 30 mA residual current and circuit breakers overcurrent B 32A 3P 6kA.
The project also utilised WDD site distribution boards with a 1x230V and 1x32A/5P configuration, with an IP54 protection rating, as well as an Easy9 distribution board from Schneider Electric with an IP40 protection rating. The entire setup was complemented by copper busbars and support insulators, which ensured the durability and safety of the installation.
The solutions chosen in this way have enabled full protection selectivity, rapid detection and elimination of potential interferences, as well as stable power supply even with a dynamically changing load.
Implementation Effect
The designed system operated continuously throughout the Christmas market, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the entire event infrastructure. The installation functioned without any failures or power outages, which was crucial for the safety and convenience of users.
The result of the implementation was stable power supply to multiple reception points while maintaining a high level of safety. Thanks to the appropriate selection of equipment and a well-thought-out design of the installation, the risk of unplanned downtime was eliminated, which is of key operational importance for outdoor events.
